Bulletproof glass is not tempered glass.
Bulletproof glass is a composite material made by bonding multiple pieces of glass or high-strength organic sheets together with transparent adhesive material like PVB or SGP. The glass is not tempered, instead of the glass is just annealed.
As we know tempered glass will be broken to small fragment when broken. It’s unable to effectively block the impact force of bullets.
Annealed glass with PVB interlayer made to the multiple laminated glass, when glass hit by the bullet, the outer layer of glass is mainly used to be shattered by bullets, while the middle layer plays a role in absorbing and dispersing the kinetic energy of bullets. This design enables bulletproof glass to provide strong protection while maintaining a relatively thin thickness.
In addition, the materials used in the interlayer, such as polycarbonate, not only have high transparency, but also have heat resistance, impact resistance, and high transparency, further enhancing the performance of bulletproof glass.
