The King of Safety Glass - Laminated Glass

Architectural glass is recognized as safety glass, including tempered glass and laminated glass. Due to the self explosion physical characteristics of tempered glass, there are still safety hazards to a certain extent. Compared to ordinary tempered glass, laminated glass has more reliable safety performance. It will not fall off on its own after self explosion or breakage, and can ensure the safety of pedestrians or objects below the building for a certain period of time.

Laminated glass is made by combining two or more glass substrates (tempered or non tempered glass) with film sandwiched between them through different pressing processes.

With the advancement of technology and the need for design expression, the types of laminated glass have also become diversified, with intermediate layers including fabrics, paper, wood grain, stone flakes, metal mesh, etc. This type of glass combines the strength, weather resistance, and transparency of the glass itself, while also achieving the designer's creative effect through different color textures in the interlayer.

Laminated glass can also be used as a glass substrate and further processed into various configurations of glass to meet the performance requirements of various projects, such as hollow laminated LOW-E coated glass.

The commonly used film include PVB (polyvinyl butyral) and SGP film. SGP is the product name given by DuPont in the United States for this type of product. Its actual material property is an ionic polymer intermediate film, which has superior physical properties:

① Colorless and highly permeable;

② Low moisture absorption, can prevent water vapor from entering

③ Has good thermal stability, does not delaminate at high temperatures, and does not reduce bearing capacity.

④ Has good photostability and is not easily discolored under sunlight

⑤ Good adhesion, leaving sufficient residual bearing capacity after glass breakage, preventing the entire piece from falling

⑥ Has good elasticity, anti penetration and vibration absorption functions

Therefore, when using large-sized glass or special parts, it is mostly recommended to use SGP laminated glass。

The common standard thicknesses for PVB film are 0.38mm, 0.76mm, 1.52mm, and 2.28mm; The commonly used standard thicknesses for SGP film are 0.89mm, 1.52mm, and 2.28mm.

Wired glass

Wired glass is a special type of glass produced by pressing processed metal wire mesh into semi liquid glass during the glass production process. To ensure better decorative effects and glass strength, laminated glass can be combined with transparent glass to form laminated double-layer glass. Wire glass has high strength and can play a certain role in fire prevention.

Laminated metal mesh glass

Add a thin metal mesh to the film layer of laminated glass to ensure its strength and decorative effect.

Silk Laminated glass

When making laminated glass, a layer of silk fabric or cloth is added between two pieces of glass and fused with the film to ensure the strength of the laminated glass application, presenting various textures and patterns to meet the designer's various design ideas.
